Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Cornerstone Technology Consulting (“CASEFILE,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of the CASEFILE cold-case detective game on the web and in our mobile apps. By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using CASEFILE, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use CASEFILE.

The service and your license

CASEFILE is an online game. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CASEFILE for your own non-commercial entertainment. You need a live connection to play and an account to save progress across devices. All cases, documents, artwork, text, and other game content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws.

Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your password secure, and for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract to subscribe. CASEFILE is a crime-themed game intended for a mature audience and is not directed to children under 13.

Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

The first case is free to play from start to finish. Access to the rest of the case library and a new case each month requires an auto-renewable subscription. Current plans:

• Solo — $7.99 per month, for one detective.
• Duo — $12.99 per month, for two players on separate devices.
• Squad — $19.99 per month, for up to four players.

Prices are in U.S. dollars and may vary by region and currency as shown at the point of purchase. Key subscription terms:

• How you are billed. On mobile, payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. On the web, payment is charged through our payment processor. There is no free trial; the free first case is the trial.
• Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Managing or canceling. You can manage or cancel at any time: on iOS in your Apple App Store account settings, on Android in your Google Play subscriptions, and on the web through your account’s billing portal. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period.
• Price changes. If we change subscription pricing, we will give notice as required by the applicable app store and law, and any increase will not take effect until your next renewal.
• Refunds. Purchases made through the app stores are subject to the store’s refund policies (Apple, Google). Where required by law, you retain any statutory refund or cancellation rights.

The interrogation feature

Suspect replies in the interrogation feature are fictional and generated by an AI system for entertainment within the game. They are part of a made-up case and are not statements of fact about any real person or event.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• copy, resell, or commercially exploit CASEFILE or its case content;
• reverse engineer, tamper with, or attempt to extract case solutions, answer keys, or server logic;
• abuse, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other players’ accounts;
• use CASEFILE in any unlawful way or to infringe others’ rights.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

CASEFILE is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using CASEFILE and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the service and its users. You can delete your account and data from the Account screen in the app or website, or via our account deletion page.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may also be communicated in the app. Continuing to use CASEFILE after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer law provides otherwise.
